1. Continuous working time difference;
The design of ordinary PC hard disk is based on 8×5. 8 x 5 refers to the normal PC hard disk working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (Hard disk working means that the hard disk is in the state of reading and writing. Note that after a hard disk is powered on, it is in two states: working state and waiting state. The working state is that the hard disk is reading and writing data. In the waiting state, the hard disk is not being read or written but is in the standby state.
DVR special hard disk (monitoring hard disk) is designed and developed according to the requirements of 24×7 enterprise environment. 24×7 means working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (that is, working continuously). The hard disk of a common PC is not suitable for continuous read and write operations for a long time. If the hard disk of a common PC is required to read and write continuously for a long time, the hard disk will be damaged, causing abnormal sounds, read and write errors, and work interruption.
Digital hard disk video recorder is year-round uninterrupted operation, so the hard disk must be able to work continuously for a long time, can meet this requirement is the DVR special hard disk.
2. Starting difference;
All 3.5 "hard drives contain a motor system, so the hard drive is powered on in a similar way to the motor powered on: that is, at the initial time of power on, there will be a large starting current to complete the hard drive startup. If the external power supply system of the hard disk cannot provide sufficient current, the hard disk fails to be started. As a result, the hard disk is unavailable. If this occurs repeatedly, the hard disk may be damaged.
Since the power supply of the hard disk motor is met by the external power supply system DC 12V, the DC 12V current is used as the standard when evaluating the hard disk starting current. The startup current of A common PC hard disk ranges from 2.8A to 3.2A. The startup current of the DVR dedicated hard disk is up to 2.0A.
Digital hard disk recorders often use multiple hard disks for data storage, taking the installation of 8 hard disks as an example: ordinary PC hard disk startup current 2.8×8=22.4A, the lowest power consumption is 22.4A×12V=268.8W. The starting current of DVR special hard disk is 2.0A×8=16A, and the highest power consumption is 16A×12V=192W. It can be seen that in the case of the same number of hard disks, the DVR special hard disk has lower requirements for the external power system (under the support of the external power supply with the same output power, the number of DVR special hard disks that can be installed will be more).
Note: In the above example, if the external power supply system can only guarantee 250W, some hard disks can be identified when using ordinary PC hard disks, and some hard disks can not be identified, and there is no regularity, and special hard disks can be easily identified.
3. Difference in operating power consumption and heat dissipation
The running power consumption refers to the power consumption of a hard disk in normal read/write state.
The operating power consumption of ordinary PC hard disk is generally about 14.5 watts, and the operating power consumption of DVR special hard disk is generally about 8 watts. It can be seen that the operating power consumption of DVR special hard disk is only equivalent to 55% of the power consumption of ordinary PC hard disk, and the low operating power consumption is not only important for the power system, but also important for the heat dissipation of the digital hard disk video recorder system (about 75% of the operating power consumption will be converted into heat).
In the digital hard disk recorder, if 8 hard disks are installed, the total power consumption of the ordinary PC hard disk is 14.5W×8=116W, and the total power consumption of the DVR special hard disk is 8W×8=64W. If you use an ordinary PC hard disk, you can imagine that there is such a high heat source in such a small space of the digital hard disk recorder, the heat dissipation requirements of the system are very high, in order to ensure that the hard disk has a reasonable ambient temperature (0 ~ 60 ° C), it is necessary to effectively heat the hard disk system. The use of DVR special hard disk, the heating situation is much better ---- reduces the system heat dissipation requirements to make the system more adaptable to the environment.
4. Transmission difference
In addition to the transmission mode of the traditional PC hard disk, the DVR special hard disk also introduces an updated transmission mode ---- uninterrupted transmission mode, the maximum size of the transmission mode is 65MB/S. Through the introduction of uninterrupted transmission mode, the hard disk support for streaming media is more reliable, and the smooth and stable playback of digital hard disk video recorder while input is fully guaranteed, which is not a feature of other hard disks.
